How I 200x’d a Vtuber’s Youtube in two months

3–5 minutes

Meet Miyra Mirage, a snow leopard Vtuber based in Australia. Miyra began her Vtubing journey in mid-2025 but recently experienced an incredible surge in growth between September and November, jumping from just 100 subscribers on YouTube to over 20,000, while also gaining nearly 2,000 new followers on Twitch during the same period.

I first met Miyra in September this year, when I offered her consultation on how to not only grow her socials but also find clearer direction as a content creator and scale into bigger, more ambitious projects. It’s worth noting that Miyra was already working with an editor and had seen some success on TikTok, a clear sign that she had both talent and drive. To me, it was simply a matter of aligning that talent with the right strategy and mindset.

Miyra’s main platform was Twitch, where she had built a solid foundation of around 500 followers and a passionate, loyal community. The issue, however, is that Twitch is notoriously difficult to grow on without drawing in viewers from other platforms. Its discovery algorithm heavily favours established streamers or specific niche games, making organic growth an uphill battle for most creators.

To strengthen Miyra’s online presence, we focused on two key goals: (1) growing her YouTube channel and (2) creating a strong “terminal” for users to move between her platforms.

The first step was separating her content. We created a dedicated VOD channel to host full, unedited Twitch streams, keeping her main channel focused on discoverable, algorithm-friendly content. Mixing both types of videos can confuse YouTube’s algorithm and hurt performance, so this separation helped set a clear direction.

Next, we doubled down on YouTube Shorts. Miyra already had a backlog of TikToks, so we repurposed them for YouTube maintaining a consistent upload schedule that quickly generated hundreds of views per short and a steady trickle of new subscribers. (For any creator posting to TikTok, it’s always worth cross-uploading to Shorts — the effort is minimal, and the exposure doubles.)

Finally, we turned to long-form content. Miyra and her editor released a reaction video that benefited from the growing audience built through Shorts. Reaction videos perform strongly in YouTube’s algorithm, so we analysed what other successful VTubers were reacting to and built a similar schedule. This led to views in the tens of thousands and rapid subscriber growth. Not every video landed — her reaction to Glitch’s new pilot, Knights of Guinevere, underperformed due to heavy competition. To counter that, I suggested reacting to More Parz, an Australian creator whose content resonated with Miyra’s identity. That connection gave her video a unique narrative edge, and it exploded, reaching 250,000 views in just a few weeks, becoming her most-watched upload to date.

The next step was to create an ecosystem where viewers could easily move between platforms. Miyra already had a Linktree, but I’ve always found them a bit bland, so I suggested replacing it with a more visual Carrd that showcased her branding and personality. This Carrd became the hub connecting all her platforms — Twitch, YouTube, X, TikTok, Throne, and Discord.

Her Discord server also played a key role, giving fans a space to hang out, interact, and stay connected even when she wasn’t streaming. Between TikTok, Discord, and YouTube, Miyra was able to keep her community engaged 24/7.

We also added a clear CTA (Call to Action) to her YouTube videos and Shorts, encouraging viewers to check out her Twitch streams. My goal from the start was to grow Miyra’s Twitch audience, and we achieved that by growing her YouTube first, then giving fans an easy way to follow her live content.

Reaction content proved to be a perfect springboard, giving Miyra a strong online foundation. From here, our focus will shift toward the kind of content she truly wants to create both in her streams and long-form projects. None of this growth would have been possible without the team behind her: Frank the Tank, her editor, Kamen Vtuber for thumbnails and graphics, and of course the fans, from her early supporters to those who discovered her during the YouTube boom. Together, they’ve built an incredible ecosystem that we’ll continue to grow.
